Ajax is a complex beast, not known fully by anyone, not even his blood. He is thoughtful and calculated yet at the same time impulsive and short-tempered.

His frailties of him are a deeply scarred and wounded soul, as with many ancients who have had long lives madness has its clutches. Manifesting within Ajax in the form of unsolvable self-hatred and doubt both of which he holds secret. He can be possessive and aggressive at times.
The strengths his personality boasts though are various. Loyalty, Dominance, Strength, Protectiveness, and a degree of fearlessness.

History of Power.
Over his lifetime Ajax had been the owner and executor of many different powers for many different reasons. At the start of his vampire life, he held the same powers as all of his kind with no unique gift other than his roses which could speak things to him that he could not sense himself.
As he grew with age and power his abilities blossomed and grew, meeting other beings he gained some knowledge and power from them adapting them into his own abilities.
During the formation of his coven in Lacrimosa, he had a pact with the gods Ares and Athena giving him unlimited powers, but as payment, they would call on him to do their bidding. A deal that turned sour very quickly.

Once he broke free from the powers of the Gods their strength was no longer his to hold. But a new strength lingered with him like a residue left by them a small seed he would nurture and grow stemming off into new powers as time went along.

The History Of Ajax Matashina
It is thought that Ajax and his twin sibling were born on an unusually freezing night during one winter in the early Thirteen Hundreds(1303 January). Born healthy to rich and powerful landowners they were well-known children within the lands, their physical beauty was often spoken of to most they would seem a perfect pair. Unblemished strong children. With a light healthy complexion and dark features. To say they were locally adored would be an understatement.
During the spring season after their birth, a passing Vampire became aware of the children and silently stole them within the night.
Their parents would never find out what happened to their sleeping children.

The years passed and the children naturally grew into young adults. The Vampire who had taken them would not change them until they were in their physical primes wanting strong fledgling Vampires to stand beside him as his underlings.
During this time the Vampire Seesle known to be of a very Ancient bloodline doted upon the two children treating them as though they were his very flesh and blood. Showering affection and gifts upon them at times.
However, Seesle suffered from insanity and at times he would also abuse and mistreat the two always managing to stop himself with profuse apologies before he would cause them too much damage.

Seesle trained them in the fighting arts and how it was to be a vampire, preparing them for what would happen once he changed them. This training became more intense the older the twins become.
This set a seed of resentment in the twins, especially Ajax. He gradually learned how to hate. And in the end, he hated Seesle. He hated the way he looked at and spoke to his twin sister. Who he was dreadfully protective over. He hated the way they were taken from the lives they were meant for and he hated the emotional weakness Seesle would so often show.

On their 20th Birthday, Seesle took their mortal lives completing the twenty-year wait. Under the guide of their elder father Seesle, the twins thrived and overtook all expectations becoming much stronger and more controlled than most fledglings of their age. Ajax especially took to killing without emotion.

As many years went by Ajax began to become very impatient with their father and with doing as another instructed, He wished for himself and his sister to have no one to answer to, to be their own masters and he knew his sister would think the same.
The way Seesle had started to look upon his sibling with lust also started to grate deeply upon his mind until he decided enough was enough.
Speaking to Sauri about what was on his mind the two joined together in killing their father and owner, they then killed all other vampires in their small coven.
Leaving under their own steam the two quickly made a name for themselves. Two of the ancient bloodline killing their own kind for power did not go down too well with the Ancients.
But the twins had a bigger plan in mind. They wished to open their power to others, Others wronged the way they had been.
They would offer them sanctuary and support and with that wish, the Coven Matashina would eventually be born.

History of Ajax Matashina since the Coven opened its doors.

Once they opened the coven to others like them Ajax was more than happy to watch it thrive and grow. Meeting some powerful creatures some of which eventually became his friends, if he could say he held such feelings for others.
He would meet the woman he would mate with for what he hoped to be the rest of his life here, Genevieve.
Since the Coven started Ajax has faced a few personal battles of his own, against the Ancients and against the Gods.
Having made a pact with Ares and Athena, Ajax sought out power, more so than he had so he would be able to protect the coven himself from coming evils. The gods bestowed to him their own powers and in return, Ajax would have to do their bidding and live their lives upon the earth whenever they chose for him to do so. The only way they would release him would be death.
Over time this became too much for Ajax to bear the tasks they set him became cruder and more time-consuming.
Going to the Gods to ask for release they refused but Genevieve accompanied him and they managed to free his bond with the Gods, nearly killing him in the process.

Since that day Ajax has been plagued with improving his own strengths which he has managed to do.
But new darkness loomed. The Ancients who had been watching the whole time had amassed a large army of elders and a new type of breed, stronger than most vampires. The army outnumbered the Matashina coven 11 to one. And once the attack started it did not take long for the coven to fall.
Many members lost their lives and the coven Matashina was left in ashes.
Broken and beaten they all stood.

They would never recover from the attack of the ancients. And their vulnerability would have awful consequences for the entire family.
They tried to rebuild but were never able to gain enough strength, and their collective lives would soon fall apart.

Sauri was weakened, and Athena took her vengeance on her. She forced Sauri's hand, and his sister killed one of their coven members called Romal. This was eventually righted when Sauri rose the man from the dead, though what she revived was far from the man they all knew.
Sauri never recovered from the ordeal, and the twins drifted. She allowed her weakness to consume her, and Ajax was forced to lead their family through dark times alone.

A human threat was looming, and Ajax watched it from afar. Ox Corp became stronger, while Ajax coven weakened, and they were heading their way.
The vampire did his best to protect his coven. But during this time his sister went missing. He scoured for her but could never find her, finally having to admit to himself that she was gone, he couldn't feel her anymore, meaning somehow she had died. He would never find out why.
His love Genevieve left his side to search for Sauri.

He started meeting with other coven leaders. eventually meeting with Karne Death-Reign, the vampire offering him friendship, his daughter Hope Death-Reign stepped in taking over the coven soon after that, she too offering Ajax friendship. But also a lot more than that. They agreed on an alliance, and their covens merged, the Matashina clan moving into Death Manor within The BlackWoods.

The adjustment was a lot for some, but with time they settled in. Ox Corp continued to advance, taking over Lacrimosa and a lot of other cities in the process. Their focus now on Otara Mortus.

Ajax made Hope his focus. The two were bonding and Ajax saw the raw potential in her. He took her under his wing and gave her as much knowledge and support as he knew how. Yet, another darkness loomed, this one living inside Ajax. Ancient vampires often succumbed to the sickness of the ancients, or the ancient curse. They lost their minds and died very slow and terrible deaths unless they went to the ground to remain in a slumberous state for the rest of their days.

He kept his plight a secret for as long as possible but was unable. Hope found out first, then his fledglings. Enya sacrificed her heart for him, and temporarily fixed the problem. But in doing so she lost herself and lost her way from the family. A pain that Ajax suffered deeply.
But, her gift gave him some time. He returned to health and helped Hope to find her potential.

Soon after he found out Genevieve was dead, and the blow was more than he could stand, sending his curse to life again.
But life did not stop.
Ox corp attacked them at every opportunity, and during one of those times, they took Matthew.

The Coven and the wolves worked together with a fresh alliance and returned what was left of his son to the coven, but not without consequences. Erebus and a wolf by the name of Veita were killed.
Matthew was broken, and Ajax feared their sacrifices were in vain, but a vampire named Blair arrived. She had been accidentally made by Ox corp and had escaped. A full fledgling of Matthew, she woke him from the darkness he had been trapped in.

By now the immortal curse had Ajax in its clutches once again. And he acted quickly, forging a blood bond with Hope. He gave his blood to her, strengthening her, and making her a member of the Matsahina bloodline (The most ancient remaining bloodline) he made her as strong as he could before the curse took him away from them yet again.
