Witch Guidelines Empty Witch Guidelines

Post by CashanSun 3 May 2020 - 16:30

The witch society in Otara Mortus is inspired by Modern-day Wicca with no preference to origin ex Alexandrian. Other aspects have been added by writers that have no basis on Wicca.

The Witches Rede

Bid the Witches law ye must,
In perfect love and perfect trust.
Eight words the witches rede fulfill,
and ye harm none do what ye will.

What ye send forth come back to thee,
So ever mind the rule of three.
Follow this with mind and heart,
Merry ye meet and merry ye part.

Structure and hierarchy.

Here is the structure that the covens follow. If you wish to join a coven at anything other then a 1st Degree please contact the High Priestess of that coven.

* Order of Witches or " The Order "
- A council of all the High Priestess from every Coven
* Guard of the Order - Warlocks (male witches ) taken at birth and trained to uphold the wishes of the Order of Witches.
* High Priestess - The leader of a Coven. Will also be a member of The Order.
* 3rd  Degree Witch - Considered an expert in magic, can be nominated to be a high priestess or leave to form her own.
* 2nd Degree Witch  - Considered an intermediate and is still developing their craft.
* 1st Degree Neophyte - A beginner at magic, would rarely perform anything other than simple spells alone.

Light Magic vs Dark Magic

No witch is restricted to using light or dark magic although they can have an affinity for one over the other.

Covens are usually specialized in one form of magic or the other however the Sisters of Freya, much like their goddess, use both.

Please remember that all magic has a cost and to keep the Witch's Rede in mind.

Gods/Goddess

All covens worship a Goddess and God. They call upon them when opening a circle and/or using magic. They worship their God and Goddess on their holidays.

Certain Gods or Goddesses are considered light or dark so please consider that if making a coven.

Witch Holidays

Imbolc - Spring Begins - 1st February
Ostara - Spring Equinox - 21st March
Beltaine - May Day - 1st May
Lithe - Summer Soltice - 21st June
Lughnasadh - First Harvest - 1st August
Mabon - Autumn Equinox - 21st September
Samhain - New Year - 1st November
Yule - Winter Solistice - 21st December.

Familiars/ Amulets

Witch's familiars help guide them and protect them when performing magic as a witch is most vulnerable when she is conjuring. Familiars usually take the forms of animals but can also appear as a humanoid figure.

Amulets have many uses, they can bring good luck, offer protection and certain one can even enhance the power of the spell they are trying to conjure. They can be anything from a family heirloom, jewelry, crystals, runes or whatever a witch feels a connection to.

Weaknesses

*Witches magic is weakened by Iron.
*They can be hexed or cursed. ( Due to power playing rules please seek permission from the writer before casting a spell on anyone. )
*Witches are human and are susceptible to injury, illness or death.
